Dr. Katharine McGinigle is an Associate Professor of Surgery and board-certified vascular surgeon specializing in the treatment of peripheral artery disease, particularly chronic limb-threatening ischemia (CLTI). Recognizing the complex challenges and evolving treatment landscape of CLTI, Dr. McGinigle leads a lab that engages in multiple different research methods, including machine learning, large database analysis, qualitative and mixed methods, which are all focused on improving treatments and outcomes for patients with PAD. Dr. McGinigle is also actively involved in multiple clinical trials focused on vascular interventions and wound healing.
Furthermore, Dr. McGinigle is deeply committed to addressing healthcare disparities and gender inequities. Her research has shed light on the inequities in CLTI treatment and limb loss outcomes. She actively works to minimize care variations, improve surgical outcomes, and ensure equitable access to high-quality care for all patients. She led the international working group for Enhanced Recovery After Vascular Surgery to set a framework for all others to follow these best, evidence-based practices.
