Dr Kraft is an internist and a clinical pharmacologist. He is the director of the Thomas Jefferson University Clinical Research Unit. The unit is located within the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and specializes in Phase 1 trials in federally funded and industry sponsored investigations. Populations have included both heathy volunteers, as well as adult and pediatric patients with cancer, Hepatitis C, end stage renal disease, epilepsy, hemophilia, and migraine. He has an interest in the development of novel therapeutics in the neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome. He practices vascular medicine and has led a number of phase I clinical trials investigating the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents. He is immediate past president of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics and is chair of the FDA advisory committee for Clinical Pharmacology.
